About This Piece

Relaxed, athletic cut. Soft stretch cotton, 180 GSM. Built to be worn at the gym, at during Muharram, on the Arbaeen walk, or when you're out with friends.

The line on the back: Hal min nāṣirin yanṣurunī? “Is there anyone who will help me?”

The call of Imam Husayn (AS) on the day of Ashura, on the plains of Karbala.

He called out — knowing the answer. No one was coming. His army was seventy-two men. The army facing him was tens of thousands. The call wasn’t a request. It was a record.

He wanted the question to outlive him.

He wanted every generation that came after to hear it and have to answer it for themselves. Where were you? Where are you?

That’s why every Muharram, the question is asked again. Why Shia Muslims around the world stand and weep and say: yes, ya Husayn, we would have come. Or: we are coming now. Or: forgive us for being late.

The call is still in the air. Still asking. It has been asking for thirteen centuries and it will keep asking until the question is answered.

What you wear on your back is an unanswered question. The wearing is part of the answer. Make sure your life is the rest of it.
